Kristyn Mixson

M.A., LPC Associate

Hello! It can be tiring trying to keep it all together day after day and trying to juggle all that we are expected to do and whatever life throws at us. It can feel overwhelming, uneasy, and downright hard at times to “keep everything under control”. Life can be difficult and reaching out for help takes courage. I believe many of us have past hurts and traumas that affect who we are, how we live our lives, and what we believe about others and ourselves. I also believe that you are able, deserving, and already have the wisdom inside of you to live the life you are wanting to live.

I am currently under the supervision of Emilee Aschenbrenner, MS., LPC-Supervisor, working as an LPC Associate. I grew up in Oklahoma and graduated in 2014 with a bachelor’s in Psychology and a minor in Social Work.
During that time, I found a deep passion for mental health and continued my education at Oral Roberts University for a master’s degree in Christian Counseling. I have always wanted to live in Texas and I am so excited to be serving the adolescents, adults, and couples of the DFW area.

My areas of specialty include depression, anxiety, trauma resolution, communication and boundary challenges, self-esteem, gender and sexuality, grief and loss, relationship concerns, self-harm, and crisis intervention. I am also EMDR Trained.

Most recently I became a Prepare/Enrich Certified Facilitator. You may be wondering what that means… Prepare/Enrich is a customized relationship assessment that identifies a couple’s strength and growth areas, allowing them to focus on the areas that are crucial for growth within their unique relationship. It is a widely used tool for premarital counseling and education, it’s suitable for couples in all phases and stages of life. After taking the assessment, I will help the couple unpack and discuss their results and work through skill-building exercises. If you would like more information, feel free to check out their website at https://www.prepare-enrich.com/ or you can also follow them on Facebook. It would be my honor to help you and your significant other navigate this program together to create a stronger bond!

When I am not in session, I am usually watching The Office, riding my bike, somewhere near the water, or playing with my border collie, Belle. I would love the chance to meet with you and work alongside you because I believe together we can help you achieve the freedom you have been longing for.

Feel free to contact me anytime! Evening and Saturday appointments are available!
